Description
The Kandy tea region nestles on the lower slopes of Sri Lanka's central massif, at 2000 to 3000 feet. Here, in the 1860s, a Scottish coffee planter called James Taylor starting experimenting with tea. He exported his first consignment in 1867 and this is widely considered to be the birth of Ceylon tea.
From this pioneering region, we have selected a Gunpowder green tea, so called because of its tightly wound pellet-like appearance which preserves taste and flavour. When brewed, the leaves unfurl and reveal a full-bodied, slightly tangy infusion.
